Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Oak Grove's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Oak Grove won the last time they faced Northeast Jones and things went their way on Tuesday too. Everything went the Oak Grove Warriors' way against the Northeast Jones Tigers as the Oak Grove Warriors made off with a 9-3 victory. Considering the Warriors have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Oak Grove let Eric Booth Jr and Eli Wheat run wild. Booth Jr went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Wheat went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Booth Jr has become a key player for Oak Grove: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bryson Chapman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Oak Grove lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast Jones didn't launched any home runs.

Oak Grove has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. With the defeat, Northeast Jones broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3.

Oak Grove and Northeast Jones should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. Oak Grove will challenge Forrest County Agricultural at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday up 107 places (18 vs. 125). Oak Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. Similarly, Northeast Jones (ranked 27th) will meet Richton (ranked 210th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
