Baseball Recap: Winamac Beats Culver Community for Their Fifth Straight Win

Winamac waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Culver Community Cavaliers as they made off with a 12-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 last Monday.

Addison Allen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 17 Ks.

At the plate, Cody Wheeler was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Hutch Martin was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Wheeler wasn't the only one making solid contact: Winamac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Culver Community only managed four hits.

Winamac's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Culver Community, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winamac will host Rensselaer Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Culver Community, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Elkhart Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
