Basketball Game Preview: Sands Mustangs vs. Bronte Longhorns

The Sands Mustangs will square off against the Bronte Longhorns at 11:20 a.m. on Friday. Sands will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

If Sands beats Bronte with 58 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Sands came out on top against Ira by a score of 58-48 on Tuesday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 522nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bronte can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They blew past Loraine 51-25. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

Sands' win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Bronte, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Sands lost to Bronte on the road by a decisive 36-20 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Sands avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
