Soccer Game Preview: Pinckneyville vs. Vienna/Goreville

The Pinckneyville Panthers will face off against the Vienna/Goreville Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Pinckneyville's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

It was a proper cat-fight when Pinckneyville faced off against Carterville on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 3-0 to the Lions. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Pinckneyville couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Vienna/Goreville's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They and Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden finished up their game with a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Vienna/Goreville's first draw of the season.

Pinckneyville's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8-1. Vienna/Goreville's draw makes their record 4-8-1 this season.

Everything went Pinckneyville's way against Vienna/Goreville in their previous matchup back in March, as Pinckneyville made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
