Baseball Game Preview: Lamar Tigers vs. Monett Cubs

Lamar hasn't had much luck against Monett recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will take on the Cubs at 4:30 p.m. Lamar will be strutting in after a victory while Monett will be coming in after a loss.

Lamar barely beat Jasper the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Eagles 8-1 on Monday. Considering the Tigers have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan-Rogersville hit Monett with a five-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cubs came up short against the Wildcats, falling 12-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Cubs in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Monett saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Seitz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Lamar's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Monett, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
