Sycamore is a perfect 7-0 against Genoa-Kingston since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Spartans will venture away from home to take on the Cogs at 4:30 p.m. Sycamore's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Genoa-Kingston's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Sycamore was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Kaneland on Wednesday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Knights. Considering the Spartans have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

DeKalb hit Genoa-Kingston with a four-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cogs took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Barbs.

Olivia Vasak made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Sycamore's victory bumped their record up to 21-3-1. As for Genoa-Kingston, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15-1.

Everything went Sycamore's way against Genoa-Kingston when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Sycamore made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
