Basketball Recap: Calvary Chapel Academy Starts Season with Victory Against Oasis Christian

Calvary Chapel Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat the Oasis Christian Lions 84-18. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 60-point advantage.

Calvary Chapel Academy was led to victory by Ephram Welsh and Noah Bolen. Welsh dropped a double-double with 30 points and 13 boards, while Bolen went 15-for-17 to rack up 30 points and four steals. The contest was Welsh's third in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Wadsworth, who posted eight points.

Calvary Chapel Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Oasis Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jordan Almonte put up nine points.

Calvary Chapel Academy has already played their next matchup, a 73-39 win against Brevard HEAT on the 18th. As for Oasis Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 78-39 loss against Universal Academy on the 21st.
