Preview: Midlothian Panthers vs. Lake Belton Broncos

Midlothian is 1-0 against Lake Belton since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Midlothian Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Belton Broncos at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Midlothian comes in on six and Lake Belton on five.

Two weeks ago, Midlothian was fully in charge, breezing past Granbury 49-15 at home. Midlothian pushed the score to 49-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Granbury cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Lake Belton blew past Granbury, posting a 45-7 win on the road. With Lake Belton ahead 38-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Lake Belton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Mascarenas out in front who threw for 198 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 passes. Cameron Hamilton also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Lake Belton's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Leading the way was Garrett Roland and his two sacks.

Midlothian's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points per game. Lake Belton has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in seven of their first eight games, giving them a 7-1 record.

Midlothian came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Belton in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, sneaking past 39-37. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Lake Belton's Connor Crews, who threw for 367 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Midlothian to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
