Basketball Recap: Micah Gray-Hundell and Drew Lysaght Secure Win for John Paul II Catholic

The John Paul II Catholic Saints didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill Lion on Monday, but they still walked away with a 44-38 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Saints.

Leading John Paul II Catholic to victory were Drew Lysaght and Micah Gray-Hundell. Lysaght posted nine points, while Gray-Hundell put up three points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Lysaght a new career-high in field goal percentage (75%).

Despite the loss, Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill still got an impressive performance from Cannon Close, who shot 67% from the field en route to 18 points. Close is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Josh Worsham was another key player, putting up nine points.

John Paul II Catholic now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, John Paul II Catholic will face off against Pungo Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Raleigh Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lion will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
