Softball Recap: Conway Springs Has No Trouble Against Cedar Vale/Dexter

Conway Springs lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Cedar Vale/Dexter, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Cardinals blew past the Spartans 8-2 on Friday. Considering the Cardinals have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Joslin Bartelson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lindsey Coleman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lanie Hartman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Conway Springs now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Cedar Vale/Dexter, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 16-1.

Conway Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cedar Vale/Dexter, they will challenge Sedan at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Spartans' favor as the team sits on 17 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Devils have been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road.
