Baseball Recap: Bear Lake Takes a Loss

Bear Lake is still winless after their match against Preston on Saturday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Indians. One positive for the Bears, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Dawson Beard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tate Ewing, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Bear Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Bear Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Preston, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bear Lake will be taking part in a tournament against Teton at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Preston, they will challenge Malad at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Malad's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Preston's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
