Basketball Recap: Simi Valley Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Simi Valley's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-45 win over the Royal Highlanders. The Pioneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Highlanders, too.

Simi Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Maclean, who posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Maclean a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Dale, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and five assists.

Simi Valley's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 10-13. As for Royal, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Simi Valley and Royal could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Simi Valley will face off against Oxnard at 5:00 p.m. on Monday down 355 places (446 vs. 91). Simi Valley is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. Meanwhile, Royal (ranked 399th) will meet Camarillo (ranked 34th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
