Basketball Game Preview: Midland Classical Academy Knights vs. Lake Country Christian Eagles

Midland Classical Academy has won seven straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Lake Country Christian has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Midland Classical Academy Knights will host the Lake Country Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Saturday, Midland Classical Academy really took it to Temple Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-28 win. With the Knights ahead 42-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Midland Classical Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaleigh Sherrill out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 boards gave Sherrill a new career-high. Addie Dunn was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.

Midland Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Lake Country Christian got the win against Trinity Christian on Tuesday by a conclusive 63-43. Given Lake Country Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Trinity Christian is ranked 969th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Country Christian has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Midland Classical Academy, their win bumped their record up to 25-1.

Midland Classical Academy came up short against Lake Country Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 42-36. Can Midland Classical Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
