Basketball Recap: Aurora Central's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak at Home

Aurora Central won the last time they faced Gateway, and Jamaea Johnson-Gonzales did her part to make sure it happened again. Everything went the Aurora Central Trojans' way against the Gateway Olympians on Thursday as the Aurora Central Trojans made off with a 44-21 victory thanks in part to Johnson-Gonzales, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Aurora Central's points.

Another player making a difference was Andena Torres, who posted five points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Those eight rebounds gave her a new career-high.

Aurora Central's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4. As for Gateway, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

Aurora Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Overland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Overland will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Aurora Central surely won't give up without a fight. Gateway has already played their next matchup (against Thornton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
