Baseball Recap: Union City Takes a Loss

Union City lost against Centerville back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Indians came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 11-4. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jayson Connor put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Union City's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

Connor wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Hoggatt, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Union City's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Centerville, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-8 record.

Coming up, Union City will be playing in front of their home fans against Anderson Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Centerville, they will venture away from home to challenge Blue River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
