Basketball Recap: Homestead Piles Up the Points Against Southwest

Homestead lost to Southwest back in February of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Homestead Broncos took their game with ease, bagging a 76-41 victory over the Southwest Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Broncos.

Homestead got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Leo Allen out in front who went 5 of 7 en route to 15 points along with seven assists and four steals. Allen has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Horton, who went 7 of 11 en route to 15 points and six assists.

Homestead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in 38 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Homestead has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Southwest, they dropped their record down to 7-7 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Homestead will square off against Keys Gate at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southwest, they and Lely will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Southwest is facing Lely at the right time seeing as Lely is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
