Giles County took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Franklin County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Rebels 2-1 on Monday. While the Bobcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Giles County's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Drew McLemore, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Owen Jarrell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Giles County's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-7. As for Franklin County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Giles County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rebels: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
