Softball Recap: Bangs Takes a Loss

Bangs extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 2-9. They lost 16-1 to the Cisco Loboes. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Justice Baker made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. Gabriella Zapata also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Cisco, they pushed their record up to 9-6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

On Cisco's side, Aubrey Corpus made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Corpus has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on AJ Pevey, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and two RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Izabella Frankfort, who went 2-for-3 with four runs.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bangs is set to square off against their familiar foe Eula at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cisco will challenge rival Coleman at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
