Baseball Game Preview: Alamo Heights Mules vs. Steele Knights

The Alamo Heights Mules will square off against the Steele Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Alamo Heights turned things around against Taft on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Raiders.

Yul Salaburu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up six Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Watson Laswell was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Blake Bader, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Alamo Heights was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Steele). They blew past Judson 14-2 on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Knights as they're now sitting on four straight.

Alamo Heights' victory bumped their record up to 5-11-1. As for Steele, their win bumped their record up to 11-6-4.

Everything went Alamo Heights' way against Steele when the teams last played back in February of 2022, as Alamo Heights made off with a 13-5 victory. Will Alamo Heights repeat their success, or does Steele has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
