After flying high against Pleasant Grove last Friday, Monterey Trail came back down to earth. The Mustangs came up short against the Rocklin Thunder on Friday, falling 35-14. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Although Monterey Trail took the loss, they still got scores from Odie Jefferson and Albert Dennis.

Reeve Slone was a one-man wrecking crew For Rocklin. as he threw for 147 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 30 yards and one score. Slone's passing game has become a key predictor of the Thunder's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Monterey Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Rocklin, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monterey Trail will head out to challenge Franklin at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Rocklin, they will venture away from home to square off against Granite Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunder's defense better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 28.9 points per game this season.
