Even though the Wellston Golden Rockets scored an imposing 71 points on Thursday, the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes still came out on top. Nelsonville-York skirted past Wellston 73-71. That's two games straight that Nelsonville-York has won by exactly two points.
Nelsonville-York got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Airah Lavy out in front who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalina Hernandez, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Nelsonville-York is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Wellston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nelsonville-York will take on Belpre at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wellston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gallia Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
