Hendersonville dropped down to 7-2 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost to the Mountain Heritage Cougars at home by a 36-20 margin. The matchup marked the Bearcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Hendersonville lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jordan Buford, who rushed for 35 yards and two scores. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Amir Albany also helped out with an impressive 100 receiving yards.

As for Mountain Heritage, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.2 points over those games.

Cason Jones had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also picking up 30 receiving yards and one TD. Those 152 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Deyton, who threw for 71 yards and three TDs on only five passes.

Hendersonville and Mountain Heritage should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Bearcats (ranked 113th) will meet Polk County (ranked 319th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mountain Heritage will square off against Owen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (62 vs. 299).
