Softball Recap: Palmer Moose vs. Homer Mariners
Palmer scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Homer Mariners with a sharp 24-9 win. The victory was nothing new for Palmer as they're now sitting on three straight.
The team relied heavily on Aurelia Zimin, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Emily Stocker, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and a run.
On Homer's side, Ariana Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Guess, who scored two runs while getting on base in all two of her plate appearances.
Palmer's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-15-1. As for Homer, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-16-3.
Palmer will play host again on Thursday to welcome Kenai Central, where first pitch is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Palmer knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Kenai Central likes a good challenge. As for Homer, they will head out on the road to challenge Houston at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Homer is facing Houston at the right time seeing as Houston is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
