Baseball Recap: Hazel Park Comes Up Short

Hazel Park couldn't beat New Haven on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Vikings took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockets. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rockets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Austin Small and Kennedy Hodgson did some serious damage despite the final result: Small got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Hodgson went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Hazel Park is 6-1 when Small posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Becker, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Hazel Park and nudges their season record down to 13-10. As for New Haven, their win bumped their record up to 14-4-1.

While Hazel Park had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
