Basketball Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Raiders. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Leading Liberty to victory were Liam Daniels and Riley Marty. Daniels posted 19 points and eight boards, while Marty dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Daniels' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Jadon Acord was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Liberty, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Independence beat Liberty by a score of 55-45 on Tuesday.
