Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nantucket). They breezed by the Cape Cod Academy Seahawks to the tune of 84-54 on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Whalers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Cape Cod Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mike Berry, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Berry is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Lauf, who posted 16 points.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Cape Cod Academy, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nantucket has already played their next matchup (against Ayer Shirley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cape Cod Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sandwich at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
