Softball Recap: Iowa Colony Pioneers vs. La Porte Bulldogs

After flying high against Ball last Tuesday, Iowa Colony came back down to earth. The Pioneers came up short against the La Porte Bulldogs on Friday, falling 23-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in March.

Iowa Colony saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaidyn Brown, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI. Kendahl Malek also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Iowa Colony's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-12. As for La Porte, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Iowa Colony will face off against rival Friendswood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, La Porte is set to challenge their familiar foe Santa Fe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.2, the Indians 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
