Baseball Game Preview: North Sand Mountain Bison vs. South Pittsburg Pirates

The North Sand Mountain Bison will head out to square off against the South Pittsburg Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Sand Mountain will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Last Friday, North Sand Mountain got the win against Pisgah by a conclusive 15-4. The Bison might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Mikey Poss was a standout: he scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Landon Keller, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, South Pittsburg posted their closest victory since April 25, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past Moore County 1-0. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

South Pittsburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Fults, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

North Sand Mountain's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Pittsburg, their record is now 4-8.

North Sand Mountain skirted past South Pittsburg 2-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will North Sand Mountain repeat their success, or does South Pittsburg has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
