Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Emily Weaver and Maggie Wong Smith Lead Martin to Victory

Martin waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Burleson Elks. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Martin to victory were Maggie Wong Smith and Emily Weaver. Wong Smith had five digs and two aces, while Weaver had 32 assists. The dominant performance also gave Weaver a new career-high in kills (four).

Martin's victory bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Burleson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, Martin and Burleson will both be playing Paschal the next time they take the court. The Elks will head out to face the Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Warriors will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
