Baseball Game Preview: East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans vs. Auburn Maroons

For the second straight game, East Syracuse-Minoa will face off against Auburn. The Spartans will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Maroons at 12:00 p.m.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between East Syracuse-Minoa and Auburn, and Auburn kept the tradition alive. The Spartans came up short against the Maroons on Friday, falling 13-5.

For Auburn's part, Jacob Adams made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Adams was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, Myles McBride was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Auburn: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Thomas (TJ) Pisciotti, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

The victory was the third in a row for Auburn, bringing their record up to 5-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for East Syracuse-Minoa, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
