Basketball Recap: Clark Montessori Find Success

Clark Montessori hadn't done well against Roger Bacon recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Clark Montessori Cougars managed a 56-50 victory over the Roger Bacon Spartans. While the Cougars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

When it comes to explaining why Roger Bacon lost, don't look at Christian Byrd. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 15 on his way to 16 points. Byrd is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Josh Cook was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Clark Montessori's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Roger Bacon, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Clark Montessori Cougars take on the Cincinnati College Prep Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Cincinnati College Prep Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Clark Montessori surely won't give up without a fight. Roger Bacon will take on Elder in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
