Volleyball Game Preview: Steele Comets vs. Springfield Blue Devils

The Steele Comets will head out to challenge the Springfield Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Steele is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past Howland 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Comets.

Steele can attribute much of their success to Hector Mendez, who had 24 assists. Those 24 assists gave Mendez a new career-high. Evan Thomson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Steele was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Springfield got the win against Copley on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.

One reason for the win was Springfield's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-15, 25-13.

Steele better keep an eye on Tristan Geske. He was instrumental in Springfield's win, getting ten digs and one assist.

Steele's record is now 17-7. As for Springfield, their record now sits at 16-6.

Steele beat Springfield 3-1 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
