Paxton is 6-1 against West Florida Baptist Academy since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bobcats just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Conquerors at 8:00 p.m. Paxton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season.
On Thursday, the stars were shining brightly for Paxton in a 51-34 win over Pensacola Christian Academy. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bobcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Warriors are ranked 646th).
Paxton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cade Stewart led the charge by dropping a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Stewart posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Wade Borgesen, who put up ten points in addition to six boards and five steals.
Meanwhile, West Florida Baptist Academy beat L.E.A.D. Academy 59-49 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Conquerors in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.
Paxton better keep an eye on Colin Harrison. He was instrumental in West Florida Baptist Academy's win, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Shepard Brown was another key player, putting up 13 points and seven boards.
West Florida Baptist Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as L.E.A.D. Academy only racked up seven.
West Florida Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Paxton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Paxton has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like West Florida Baptist Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 28.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Paxton beat West Florida Baptist Academy 42-31 in their previous matchup back in January. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Conquerors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
