Basketball Recap: Cypress Christian Comes Up Short

Cypress Christian extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-8. They lost 59-37 to the Lake Country Christian Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1190th, while the Eagles are ranked 533rd).

Despite the defeat, Cypress Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Houston Davis shot 64% from the field on his way to 22 points and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season.

As for Lake Country Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points over those games.

Caleb Stump had an outrageously good game as he went 7-for-11 to rack up 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Buchanan, who posted six points and six boards.

Cypress Christian has already played their next contest, a 62-42 loss against Devine on the 4th. As for Lake Country Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 68-61 victory against St. John XXIII on the 4th.
