One team took the elevator way up and another took it way down in the power rankings this week. That and more in this week's report.
Welcome
After a comfortable win over Hortonville in the match before, Marshfield might have felt a bit of anxiety in its most recent match. Marshfield narrowly escaped with a win as it sidled past Kaukauna 24 - 21. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Ryan Krueger, who brought his A game into the contest. He threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns. The win also thrust Marshfield into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 25th spot.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
The Edgar offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It put the hurt on Auburndale with a conclusive 46 - 6 victory. Edgar was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why. With five consecutive wins, Edgar boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Catholic Memorial (13th in the power rankings) and Muskego (3rd) did not disappoint. Catholic Memorial and Muskego were almost perfectly matched up, but Catholic Memorial suffered an agonizing 28 - 27 defeat. Despite the loss, Catholic Memorial might take consolation in the fact that it scored well against Muskego's defense, which allows only 11 points per game on average.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between River Falls (18th in the power rankings) and Rice Lake (16th). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Only one team will win this week, so we'll see which team fails to repeat its success.
