Suggested Video

Upland had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-18 to make it 17. They came up short against the Etiwanda Eagles, falling 19-2. If the Highlanders/Scots were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Upland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Darien Maung, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Etiwanda, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11-1 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Etiwanda's side, Jack Holguin looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Holguin has become a key player for the Eagles: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-9-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Angel Mejia was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Jaeden Toki was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

While Upland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
