Basketball Game Preview: Elkhorn South Storm vs. Benson Bunnies

Two dominant forwards in Cooper Mroczek and Goanar Bamach are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Elkhorn South Storm are taking a road trip to take on the Benson Bunnies at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhorn South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.8 points per game this season.

On Saturday, Elkhorn South was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Bellevue East.

The losing side was boosted by Mroczek, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. The game was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Lincoln Schwarz was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Elkhorn South smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Benson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 71-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Millard North. The contest was a 35-35 toss-up at halftime, but the Bunnies couldn't quite close it out.

Benson now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Elkhorn South, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Elkhorn South came up short against Benson in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 80-73. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bamach, who went 10 of 18 on his way to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and five blocks. Now that Elkhorn South knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
