Basketball Recap: Eaton Drops Season-High Score on Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eaton). They blew past the Valley Vikings 91-53 on Tuesday. The Reds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 24 points or more this season.

Eaton was led to victory by Crew Haythorn and Noah Sprinkle. Haythorn went 8-for-14 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points and seven rebounds, while Sprinkle dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. Haythorn continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ely Madaleno, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 15 points.

Eaton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Maddox Woolverton, who posted ten points and three steals. He has become a key player for Valley: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 2-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Kissler, who scored 11 points and six boards.

Eaton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games. Valley is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.

Eaton has already played their next game, a 63-39 victory against Fort Morgan on the 20th. As for Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-61 win against Weld Central on the 22nd.
