Baseball Game Preview: Hoosic Valley Hawks vs. Saratoga Central Catholic Saints

The Hoosic Valley Hawks will face off against the Saratoga Central Catholic Saints at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Hoosic Valley not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 12-0). Everything went their way against Schenectady as they made off with a 7-1 win.

Meanwhile, Saratoga Central Catholic put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Hoosick Falls. Considering the Saints have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brian Selig made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Fales, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Luke Dejnozka was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Saratoga Central Catholic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Hoosic Valley, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Hoosic Valley suffered a grim 16-2 defeat to Saratoga Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
