Soccer Game Preview: Grace vs. Santa Clara

The Grace Lancers are taking a road trip to take on the Santa Clara Saints at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace will be strutting in after a victory while Santa Clara will be coming in after a defeat.

Grace took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against St. Bonaventure as Grace made off with a 3-0 win.

Grace hit St. Bonaventure with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Dylan Olsen, Enzo Fernandez, and Jacob Fletes.

Meanwhile, Santa Clara managed to keep up with Coast Union until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Santa Clara came up short against Coast Union, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 956th, while the Broncos are ranked 317th).

Grace's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-7-1. As for Santa Clara, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4-1 record this season.

Grace took their win against Santa Clara in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 6-1. In that game, Grace amassed a halftime lead of 3-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
