Newman Central Catholic has gone a perfect 3-0 against West Carroll recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Newman Central Catholic will challenge West Carroll at 4:30 p.m. Newman Central Catholic will be strutting in after a win while West Carroll will be coming in after a loss.

Newman Central Catholic is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since May 2, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Annawan-Wethersfield 5-4.

Gianna Vance was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amiya Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Anna Propheter, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, West Carroll came up short against Freeport on Tuesday, falling 12-5. The Thunder haven't had much luck with the Pretzels recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

West Carroll now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Newman Central Catholic, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Newman Central Catholic took their win against West Carroll in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newman Central Catholic since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
