Basketball Recap: Meridian Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Meridian challenged Harmony Science Academy on Monday. The Meridian Lions took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Harmony Science Academy Tigers. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Isaac Guajardo-Tovar continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Harmony Science Academy, putting up 21 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Guajardo-Tovar has scored at least a third of Harmony Science Academy's points. Tensae Laki was another key player, posting 17 points.

Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Harmony Science Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Meridian and Texas Empowerment Academy will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Harmony Science Academy will take on Varsity Opponent in a holiday battle at at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
