Baseball Preview: Jackson County Generals vs. Perry County Central Commodores
The Jackson County Generals are taking a road trip to square off against the Perry County Central Commodores at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Things were looking good for Jackson County after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bell County. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Perry County Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Prestonsburg on Tuesday. The Commodores haven't had any issues with the Blackcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Tate Watts, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dylan Elkins, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Jackson County's loss dropped their record down to 11-18. As for Perry County Central, their victory bumped their record up to 20-13.
Jackson County was able to grind out a solid win over Perry County Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, winning 11-6. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Commodores have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
