Basketball Recap: Speedway Comes Up Short

Speedway had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-6 to make it four. They were dealt a 64-15 loss at the hands of the Triton Central Tigers. The contest marked the Sparkplugs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Madelynn Matelic was Speedway's leading scorer, having posted four points. Matelic also led the team in assists with two. Hayli Clampitt held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

As for Triton Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Maryrose Felling, who shot 56% from the field en route to 21 points and eight boards. Her big performance that evening made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Quinn King, who posted ten points and six assists.

Coming up, Speedway will be home for the holidays to greet Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Triton Central, they have already played their next game, an 85-15 victory against Southwestern on the 17th.
