Baseball Recap: Amery Takes a Loss

Amery fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Prescott on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-6 on Tuesday.

Amery saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Morrissey, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Gavin Humpal was another, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Amery has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Prescott, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Coming up, Amery will head out on the road to challenge Ellsworth at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Prescott, they will head out to take on Regis at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
