Baseball Recap: Olathe East Find Success

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Olathe East ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Maize Eagles 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since April 4, 2024.

Caden Wallace was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wallace was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Milo Burton, who went 3-for-6 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Grant Pollak, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Olathe East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maize only managed six hits.

Olathe East has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 8.0 runs this season. As for Maize, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Olathe East will challenge Brandon Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Maize, they will welcome Seaman at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.
