Football Recap: Jamel Tuff's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Collins Hill over Mill Creek

Collins Hill fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Mill Creek on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 20-14 to the Hawks. Despite 83 more yards than the Hawks, the Eagles couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Collins Hill lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jamel Tuff, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one TD. Kevin Hughes also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Collins Hill's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Katrell Webb and Valiaku Kargbo, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Jayde Beasley was his usual excellent self, rushing for 157 yards and one score while picking up 7.1 yards per carry for Mill Creek.

Collins Hill's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4. As for Mill Creek, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Collins Hill will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dacula at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th. As for Mill Creek, they will face off against Discovery at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will be up against the Titans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
