Basketball Game Preview: Rampart Rams vs. Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks

The Rampart Rams will head out on the road to take on the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Saturday, Rampart lost to Discovery Canyon on the road by a 47-30 margin. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Thunder are ranked 100th).

Despite the defeat, Rampart saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Arabelle Madril posted 11 points and six steals. Madril is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Mesa Ridge, falling 55-31.

Rampart's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Everything went Rampart's way against Cheyenne Mountain when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Rampart made off with a 63-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rampart since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
