Basketball Game Preview: Santa Rosa Academy Rangers vs. Citrus Hill Hawks

The Santa Rosa Academy Rangers and the Citrus Hill Hawks will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Santa Rosa Academy is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Corona just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Monday. They took a blow against the Panthers, falling 75-37. The contest marked the Rangers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Citrus Hill fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Ramona on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 67-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (60), the Hawks still had to take the loss.

Santa Rosa Academy will need focus on slowing down Alaric(AJ) Hayes, one of several Citrus Hill players who made an impact when they last played. He went 11 of 24 en route to 30 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds Hayes has posted since back in November. Another player making a difference was Jerren White, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Citrus Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Santa Rosa Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Citrus Hill, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.

Santa Rosa Academy was dealt a bruising 63-33 defeat at the hands of Citrus Hill in their previous meeting back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Santa Rosa Academy was down 37-12.
