Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Whitehall-Yearling

Whitehall-Yearling waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Franklin Heights Falcons by a score of 43-36. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Falcons are ranked 627th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitehall-Yearling's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyeona Myers led the charge by putting up 16 points in addition to eight boards and eight steals. Myers is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards.

Kelia Wilson and Riley Hambel certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Wilson posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, while Hambel dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Whitehall-Yearling's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. As for Franklin Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitehall-Yearling will take on Bexley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Franklin Heights, they will face off against Columbus Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
